In 1961, Rogozov was stationed at a newly constructed Russian base in Antarctica. The 12 men inside were cut off from the outside world by the polar winter by March of that year. In April, the 27-year-old Rogozov began to feel ill, very ill. His symptoms were classic: he had acute appendicitis. “He knew that if he was to survive he had to undergo an operation — But he was in the frontier conditions of a newly founded Antarctic colony on the brink of the polar night. Transportation was impossible. Flying was out of the question, because of the snowstorms. And there was one further problem: he was the only physician on the base.”

Fagilyu (l) and husband Fagili Mukhametzyanov (r). Fagilyu died of a heart attack at her own funeral after she was mistakenly declared dead by doctors.
A Russian woman died from a heart attack brought on by the shock of waking up at her own funeral.
Fagilyu Mukhametzyanov, 49, was mistakenly declared deceased by doctors, the Daily Mail reported Friday.
But she later woke up - in a coffin surrounded by sobbing relatives. She started screaming after realizing she was about to be buried alive.
Mukhametzyanov, a resident of Kazan, was rushed back to the hospital where she was declared dead -- this time for real.
Her husband, Fagili Mukhametzyanov, was distraught.
"Her eyes fluttered and we immediately rushed her back to the hospital but she only lived for another 12 minutes," he said.
He told The Sun that he would sue the hospital.
"I am very angry and want answers. She wasn't dead when they said she was and they could have saved her."
A spokesman at the hospital, also in Kazan, said officials were investigating.

Outdoor Office Bro
The home office is quickly becoming a must-have as more and more people choose to work from home - and more employers encourage it. On this season 1 episode of Take It Outside, designer, Kelly Deck, worked with freelance journalist, (and current ETalk reporter) Susie Wall. Susie had a gorgeous, calm office space indoors to work on her various assignments. But, living in Vancouver, she wanted to stretch her office outdoors.
Before: Susie's empty backyard... hit the jump for the after pic.
Nissan's Dualis - Nissan NEEDS to Make This.
How do you sell a crossover SUV in Japan? Apparently you build a mammoth mech with wheels on his heels and let it have free reign in the city. Nissan is looking to hype up its Dualis vehicle over in Ginza by making appearnaces alongside the ride as well as blazing through parking garages and fuel stations. The black and silver machine was reportedly created by Shoji Kawamori, and will be on display at various locales in Japan from now until July 1st. Of course, this is marketing we're talking about, and this fellow can seriously fly on these "hidden camera captures," so feel free to click on through to see a few questionable videos of this 3.5-meter tall monster (supposedly) wheeling about.

A Bro's Bedtime Story
"Go the F**K To Sleep" by Adam Mansbach is probably the best children's book since "Goodnight Moon," and it only gets better when read by Samuel L. Jackson.
In the introduction to the recording, the Hollywood favorite said that in his own experience reading stories to put kids to sleep just doesn't work. Jackson said he used to say "go the f*** to sleep" to his own daughter growing up.
